What is Super Intelligence, and what does it mean for your business?

The difference between a new name, advancing technology, and results you can evaluate.

Super Intelligence can mean different things depending on the context. In US administration communications, SI has been introduced as a name for AI. In technical discussions of artificial superintelligence, the term refers to capabilities that would broadly exceed human intelligence. That distinction matters when a company evaluates a solution.

A name can change expectations before a product is tested. Understanding the term helps us decide what evidence we need before assigning it commercial value.

Why SI is in the conversation now

On September 29, 2026, Donald Trump signed “Inaugurating The Era Of Super Intelligence.” The order directs the executive branch to replace AI with SI in relevant communications and documents, to the extent permitted by law. For implementation, its definition refers to technologies already covered by the statutory definition of AI. [1]

Changing terminology and demonstrating a new capability are separate questions. A company still needs to verify what the product it is buying does under its actual operating conditions.

AI, AGI, ASI, and the two meanings of SI

TermMeaning relevant here
AIThe broad field of artificial intelligence and its applications.
AGIThe concept of AI with general capabilities comparable to human capabilities across a wide range of tasks.
ASIArtificial superintelligence: a concept of intellectual capabilities far beyond those of humans.
SI in the US orderAdministrative terminology for technologies classified as AI.

IBM’s explanations distinguish AGI and ASI as conceptual levels of capability. [2] An assistant, integrations, or multiple connected agents do not, by themselves, demonstrate either level.

Completing one task faster than a person does not answer the whole question either. A product user needs to understand where performance has been demonstrated, under which test conditions, and how situations outside that scope are handled.

What a name can do for a brand

From our perspective in communication, “super” may direct expectations toward power and performance. “Artificial” may suggest something constructed or imitative. These are editorial interpretations of the words, not findings from research on a particular company’s audience.

A brand adopting a new term needs to explain the promise it makes through that term. When the promise exceeds what the product can demonstrate, questions arise in sales, implementation, and use.

We would test the message with concrete questions. What does the customer think will happen automatically? Which decisions do they assume are delegated? What level of correctness do they expect? An appealing label can create a meaningful gap between the actual offer and the perceived offer.

What to verify in a business solution

We would start with the task. Can the system organize a quote request? Answer correctly about a current catalog? Prepare an analysis the team can verify? Each question needs a different set of examples and an expected result.

What to verify in a business solution
Evaluation questionEvidence we would seek
Which problem does it solve?Representative process examples and a defined result.
Where does the answer come from?Identified sources, updates, and visible missing information.
What can it change?Explicit permissions and confirmation from connected systems.
How is an error handled?A path for checking, correcting, and human intervention.
What work remains for the team?Preparation, review, correction, and operating time.
What justifies expansion?Acceptable results on relevant cases at a sustainable cost.

These are working criteria. Thresholds depend on the consequences of an error and the responsibility attached to the process. Organizing internal notes and confirming a price to a customer require different controls.

A simple example changes the conversation

Suppose a vendor presents an “SI sales assistant.” In a fictional demonstration, a customer asks about a product that is no longer in stock.

We would check whether the assistant consults the current source, preserves the distinction between available and orderable, and acknowledges when confirmation is missing. Any alternative should meet the customer’s requirements. If it announces a reservation, that action should exist in the relevant system.

This test tells us something useful about fit with the process. A new label does not replace testing, and one successful answer does not establish the system’s full capabilities.

How we would begin

We would define one need, describe the current process, and prepare the cases it must handle: ordinary, incomplete, contradictory, and cases with an unavailable integration. We would compare the result and total effort with the existing way of working.

That gives us a basis for choosing a simple rule, a conversational interface, AI within a controlled process, or an agent with tools. Our articles on system selection, sources, permissions, and cost explore each part of that decision.

At NOT MORE., we can clarify the need, design the experience, build integrations, and monitor the agreed operation. The proposal should remain understandable and verifiable regardless of the acronym used in the presentation.
